Piano Lessons

We believe in developing well-rounded, musical students, and that studying piano is one of the best possible ways to accomplish this. Performances are encouraged, group recitals occur at the end of each semester and a commitment to consistent practice habits is expected. Here are some of the details:

  • Half hour and hour long lessons available
  • Monthly payments at $15 per half hour
  • Lessons held Monday—Friday from 3:00-5:00 pm and Monday, Thursday, Friday from 6:00-8:00 pm
  • Cancellations made up

Exciting Events this semester:

  • Recital Boot Camps
  • Spring Recital

Improvisation Techniques

Piano Improvisation is a dying art, becoming more and more of an exclusive musical practice limited to musicians who “play by ear”. The truth is that any dedicated pianist can learn the basic techniques of improvisation. In Improvisation Techniques, we will explore the concepts of theory and chord structure and apply it to playing piano in a worship service setting. Traditional and contemporary methods will be discussed.

Composition Lessons

Composition Lessons are also offered, for the student just beginning to explore and discover the joys of writing music or for the budding composer to get feedback, advice and encouragement. Lessons are held weekly. Purchase of Sibelius Music Notation Software strongly advised.

Summer Music Theory Courses

We recommended these for the high school student considering a degree in music, the dedicated musician who wants to gain a deeper understanding of the function of music, or younger students to introduce them to concepts and practices outside of traditional piano theory. These courses prepare the student to succeed musically in the college classroom or at the keyboard, and incorporate Ear Training and Sight Singing as well as written theory work. Texts and Materials provided.
